Camera Obscura (Latin for " Dark Room") is the oldest type of camera that is recorded or there is evidence of, it led to photography and cameras. The camera consists of a box, or room, with a hole in one side, when a light beam reflects of and object travels through this hole in a straight line, it reflects of off the material inside (usually a mirror or tinfoil, something reflective) and the image appears on the surface of the viewfinder. The image will be rotated 180 degrees (upside-down) but the perspective and/or will persist.
Below is a video of a room transformed into a Camera Obscura using Gaffers tape, thick plastic sheeting and used X-Acto knives to cut the objects. they covered the rooms windows with the thick, black, plastic sheeting and used black Gaffers tape to stick it down. they then cut a hole the size of a dime and closed all doors. The image in the view line of the hole was projected upside-down onto the opposite wall. This is because light travels in straight lines. |
